As part of its regular meeting on Tuesday, April 27, the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors will hold a public hearing on two proposed plans affecting federally funded housing programs. The hearing will begin at 4:30 p.m. in the Fairfax County Government Center Board Auditorium on the Five-Year Consolidated Plan for FY 2011 - 2015 and the Consolidated One-Year Action Plan for FY 2011. To register to speak at the public hearing, call the Clerk to the Board of Supervisors at 703-324-3151 (TDD 703-324-3903).

The proposed plans are required for funding four federal housing programs:

  • Community Development Block Grant.
  • HOME Investment Partnerships Program.
  • Emergency Shelter Grant.
  • Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS.

The proposed Five-Year Consolidated Plan identifies a wide range of needs; current programs and strategies; gaps and priorities for housing, community service, homeless, community development, neighborhood preservation and revitalization; and employment and economic opportunity programs and services.

The proposed One-Year Action Plan identifies the proposed use of an estimated $9.1 million in funds for the four federal programs. The plan also proposes a reallocation of Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds carried over from prior years and reallocated to senior/disabled/homeless housing and affordable housing preservation/workforce housing.

Written comments can be sent to Stephen Knippler, Department of Housing and Community Development, 3700 Pender Drive, Fairfax, VA  22030 by April 26 at 4 p.m.
