New Deputy County Executive – Patricia Harrison
Patricia (Pat) Harrison was appointed by the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors in September 2009 as the new Deputy County Executive for Human Services. Since September, Pat has worked alongside Deputy County Executive Verdia Haywood and will transition into Verdia’s duties upon his retirement later this month. As the new Deputy County Executive for Human Services, she will oversee Fairfax County Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD) and other human service agencies including: Department of Administration for Human Services, Department of Systems Management for Human Services Health Department, Department of Community and Recreation Services, Department of Family Services , Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court Services, Fairfax-Falls Church Community Services Board and Office to Prevent and End Homelessness.
Since 2001, Pat has served as the Director of the Fairfax County Department of Community and Recreation Services (CRS) and was acting director from 1999-2001. Pat has been with CRS since 1986 when she started as a Recreation Specialist.
Throughout her career, Pat has received several awards from Fairfax County including the William D. Thompson Award for Excellence and the A. Heath Onthank Award for Outstanding Service and Contributions to Government Service.
Pat holds a Master’s degree in recreation from the University of Maryland and a Bachelor’s degree in recreation from Slippery Rock State University.
