Chairman Bulova Delivers State of the County Address
On Friday, Dec. 18, Fairfax County Board of Supervisors Chairman Sharon Bulova delivered her State of the County address, which highlighted the board’s accomplishments over the past year and focused on future challenges with the current economic crisis. Chairman Bulova addressed affordable housing and redevelopment and specifically discussed:
- First-Time Homebuyer’s Silver Lining Initiative,
- Counseling services provided to 700 families at risk for losing their homes,
- Neighborhood Stabilization Program (NSP) funds provided to non-profit organizations to help them buy foreclosed properties to convert them into affordable rental properties,
Other topics of the State of the County address included:
- Budget cuts and reductions taken last year.
- New ways to deliver services in a less costly manner.
- Help available to those facing foreclosure.
- An increase in demand for the county’s human services.
- Board of Supervisors’ Goals and Priorities.
- Transportation update.
