The Passing of Patricio (Pat) Montiel

Patricio (Pat) Montiel, Chief, Housing Rehabilitation, Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD) passed away suddenly at his home early Monday morning, Nov. 16.  Pat began with the county in 1979.  After a brief break in service in 1999, he returned to HCD in 2005 to continue his service to the residents of Fairfax County.  Pat was very active and highly respected for his work in the county, especially for his commitment to reach the Latino community.  Pat oversaw the county’s Home Improvement Loan and Home Repair for the Elderly Programs and was actively involved in other countywide initiatives such as the response to the Huntington Flood and Hurricane Katrina.  He served as the Springfield Outreach Coordinator, providing a critical connection with non-English speaking residents. He was an active participant in the Commission on Aging 50+ Action Plan Fairfax, and consistently participated in ongoing community meetings to bring information on county services to residents.
