Stimulus Funds at Work on FCRHA Properties

In spring 2009, the Fairfax County Redevelopment and Housing Authority was awarded a $2.3 million grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for the renovation and modernization of the county’s Public Housing properties.  These funds are now at work at several Public Housing properties.  Properties currently under renovation include Robinson Square (Braddock District) where work includes the replacement of siding and trim with a product that is impervious to termites is fireproof and will not need regular painting. New roofs are also being installed.  The Atrium, Lee District, is also under renovation and is receiving new roofs, exterior paint and heat pumps.

The projects have created jobs for painters and constructions workers and one public housing resident has also been hired.
