Board of Supervisors Approves HOME Funds for Rehabilitation Project at Hopkins Glen

On Monday, July 13, 2009 the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors approved the reallocation of $427,764 in project funds within Fund 145, HOME Investment Partnerships Program. HOME funds will be used to pay a portion of the cost to upgrade the HVAC and plumbing systems.

Hopkins Glen was built in 1969, and purchased by the FCRHA in 1984. The 90-unit affordable multifamily property owned by FCRHA is located off of Route 29/Lee Highway near the Merrifield intersection of Lee Highway and Gallows Road in the Providence district.  The FCRHA acquired the property with a U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) below-market interest rate (BMIR) loan in 1984. The use of HOME and other funds to complete this rehabilitation work will extend the life of this property and help preserve 90 units of affordable rental housing in Fairfax County.
