Fairfax County's Foreclosure Outreach Program has been selected for the Achievement in Consumer Education (ACE) award from the National Association of Consumer Agency Administrators (NACAA). The ACE award reflects the county’s innovative and effective use of consumer outreach programs in presenting foreclosure prevention and consumer education to homeowners and renters during the foreclosure crisis.
The “Foreclosure Outreach” presentation was developed and implemented by Kathy Jones, lead housing services specialist of the Homeownership and Relocation Services Division of Fairfax County’s Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD), in April 2008 in response to requests from other county agencies whose customers were impacted by the foreclosure crisis. In September 2008, the Fairfax County Office of Consumer Affairs and Legal Services of Virginia partnered with HCD to expand the program throughout the community.
The NACAA, which represents more than 160 consumer agencies, is a source of intelligence and dialog on consumer trends, issues and updates by promoting consumer education and rights. |
