FCRHA FY 2008 Strategic Plan-Action Plan Fiscal Year End Report Presented

The Fairfax County Redevelopment and Housing Authority (FCRHA) reviewed its Fiscal Year End Status Report on its FY 2008 Strategic Plan-Action Plan at its meeting on Thursday, September 18.  The report noted the several significant strides that have been made in the past year toward the preservation and production of additional affordable housing in Fairfax County.  Highlights include:

  1. The preservation of 812 affordable units in FY 2008 via FCRHA acquisitions and financing, 791 units of which included funds from the Penny for Affordable Housing Fund.
  2. The adoption of the groundbreaking new Workforce Housing Program through amendments to the Comprehensive Plan and Zoning Ordinance, which by the end of FY 2008 saw the commitment of 845 Workforce Dwelling Units by private developers in rezoning actions taken by the Board of Supervisors.
  3. The approval by the FCRHA and the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors of a new program in Fairfax County designed to address the current home foreclosure problem and help stabilize impacted neighborhoods.
  4. The completion of construction on Glenwood Mews, 15 units of Magnet Housing in the Lee District, by the FCRHA.
  5. The purchase of 152 homes by low and moderate income households through the FCRHA’s First-Time Homebuyers Program.
