Fairfax County Redevelopment and Housing Authority to Bid Farewell to Chairman Conrad Egan and Sully District Commissioner John Litzenberger
The Fairfax County Redevelopment and Housing Authority (FCRHA) will bid farewell to two members of its authority over the next couple of months. Commissioner John Litzenberger, Sully District, was appointed to serve on the Fairfax County Planning Commission effective in January. His last meeting with the FCRHA will be May 1. Commissioner Litzenberger has been a longtime supporter of community service in Fairfax County. He was a founder of the West Fairfax County Citizens Association and served as their president from 1986-1988 and has served on numerous community committees. In 1987, Commissioner Litzenberger received the “Lord Fairfax Award” for the Springfield District and was selected by Celebrate Fairfax! Inc. as Volunteer of the Year in 2007. A reception in Commissioner Litzenberger’s honor will be held at 4500 University Drive, Fairfax, VA on May 1, 2008 at 6 p.m. prior to the FCRHA meeting.
Chairman Conrad Egan will be departing his position as Chairman and FCRHA representative for the Providence District prior to the annual FCRHA meeting on July 19. Chairman Egan was appointed to the FCRHA in 1997 and elected as chairman in 2001. He currently serves president and CEO of the National Housing Conference (NHC) and in 2001 and 2002, served as the executive director of the Millennial Housing Commission, established by the United States Congress to recommend ways to better support good housing for all Americans.
Chairman Egan’s involvement in community development and housing dates back to 1965 when he worked on local housing activities in Detroit, Michigan. In 1969, Conrad joined the staff of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) serving in a variety of headquarters and field assignments, including serving as director of the Office of Multifamily Housing Management. He has participated on several committees on affordable housing issues for Fairfax County, including the Affordable Housing Preservation Action Committee, which he co-chaired, and the Affordable Housing Advisory Committee on which he currently serves as co-chair.
A farewell reception is being planned and details will be announced shortly.
