March 14, 2008 FCRHA Chairman Conrad Egan to Receive Katherine K. Hanley Public Service Award Conrad Egan, chair of the FCRHA, will be honored on Tuesday, March 25, 2008 at the annual Board of Supervisors Breakfast as the 2008 recipient of the Katherine K. Hanley Public Service Award. He is the fifth recipient of this prestigious award, which is bestowed annually by Leadership Fairfax, Inc. Previous winners include: Kate Hanley, former Board of Supervisors Chairman; Verdia L. Haywood, deputy county executive; Peter Murphy, chairman of the Planning Commission; and Marlene Blum, citizen activist and community leader. Conrad Egan has served on the Fairfax County Redevelopment Housing Authority since March 1997. In July 2000, he was elected chairman, and has been re-elected annually to this leadership position seven times. As a commissioner and then chairman, Conrad Egan has distinguished himself as a leader, a consensus builder, an innovative thinker, and someone who is highly knowledgeable in the filed of affordable housing. He has proven to be an incredibly valuable resource for the county and the FCRHA on what is happening in the affordable housing industry and on Capitol Hill. He is highly respected across the nation, within Fairfax County and by his fellow commissioners. Under his leadership, the FCRHA has been recognized as one of the premier housing authorities in the nation. The award will be presented at the annual Board of Supervisors breakfast which will be held from 7 to 9:30 a.m. at the McLean Hilton Tysons Corner, 7920 Jones Branch Drive, in Mclean.
