James Lee Community Center Receives Award
The James Lee Community Center was awarded the Tree Planting award at the 2007 Land Conservation Awards on Friday, Jan. 18 at the Fairfax County Government Center. The James Lee Community Center (Providence District) was recognized in the Tree Conservation category for an outstanding job of replacing trees that were unavoidably destroyed due to development of the Center. The Fairfax County Redevelopment and Housing Authority (FCRHA) coordinated and financed the renovation and expansion of the Center, which now includes approximately 23,000 square feet of new floor space and a refurbished community theater. Cynthia Ianni, Director of Design, Development & Construction with the Department of Housing and Community Development was the project manager of the James Lee Community Center tree conservation project.

The 2007 Land Conservation Awards honor developers, designers, site superintendents and contractors whose projects demonstrate excellence in erosion and sediment control design and implementation or a commitment to tree preservation and replacement in Fairfax County.  The Fairfax County Department of Public Works and Environmental Services, in cooperation with the Northern Virginia Soil and Water Conservation District and the Fairfax Tree Commission, sponsor the annual awards program.
