Board of Supervisors Housing, Human Services Committees to Focus on Draft Homelessness Plan
Beeman Commission Interim Report Also on Agenda

The Board of Supervisors will receive a draft Implementation Plan for consideration and discussion at a joint meeting of its Housing and Human Services Committees on Monday, November 26.  The proposed implementation plan is based on a Board-endorsed blueprint to achieve the goal of ending homelessness in ten years, using the “Housing First” approach.  The purpose of the meeting is to advance the dialogue on homelessness to discussion of key elements and changes needed for the current system to shift from “managing homelessness” to a system of “ending homelessness.”  It is anticipated that the final Implementation Plan will be presented for consideration and adoption to the Board in March, 2008.

Also on the agenda for the November 26 meeting is the interim report of the Josiah H. Beeman Commission.  The mission of this Board-appointed ad hoc committee is to advise the Board of Supervisors on the future direction and design of the mental health services delivery system serving Fairfax County, the City of Fairfax, and the City of Falls Church.

The November 26 joint meeting of the Board of Supervisors Housing and Human Services Committees will be held at 1 PM in the Board Auditorium at the Government Center.
