Fairfax County Redevelopment and Housing Authority to
Host Open House at Glenwood Mews

The Fairfax County Redevelopment and Housing Authority (FCRHA) in partnership with Inova Health System will host an open house at Glenwood Mews in the Lee District on Saturday, Nov., 10; 10—2 p.m. Glenwood Mews is located at 7316 Glenwood Mews Court at the intersection of Telegraph Road and Old Telegraph Road. The new development includes 15 townhouses that will provide affordable homes to nurses and healthcare providers in training with Inova Health Systems. The Inova partnership with the FCRHA is part of the county’s Magnet Housing program. The remaining two units were developed by the FCRHA and sold to Habitat for Humanity of Northern Virginia (HFHNV) at a cost affordable to participants in the Habitat program.
The exterior design of the townhomes is similar to the market rate units nearby. All 17 units have three finished levels. Ten of the units are 3-bedrooom and approximately 1,630 square feet in size. The remaining seven units are 4-bedroom and approximately 1,840 square feet in size. In addition, the FCRHA elected to include visitability into the design of two of the townhouses. This design concept includes accessible entrances, hallways and a bathroom and bedroom on the ground floor level. The existing parking lot will be renovated to provide two accessible parking spaces and sidewalks. The fifteen units retained by the FCRHA for rental will consist of ten 3-bedroom and five 4-bedroom units and will have rents affordable at 50% of the area median income (AMI) with a maximum income limit of 70%.
The 15 units in the Magnet Housing Program are available to health professionals. All applicants are required to sign a two-year lease and make a two-year employment commitment with Inova. Representatives from Inova will also be on-site at the open house. In addition, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Be nursing and allied health students working at least 15 hours per week and within 18 months of graduation at the time of the application;
- Be graduates from accredited nursing programs or other allied health professionals who support patient care (e.g., pharmacy, respiratory therapy, physical therapy, occupational therapy);
- Inova Health System employees who are employed as nurses or in other allied health professions that support patient care.
The open house is open to all who would like to view this new and exciting project.
